Plant capacity is 2,600 m3/day with principle raw water from the Opitonui River and secondary bore water.
The contract involved supply and installation of : a 55 m3 contact tank, a 37 m3 balance tank, 2 x 1.8 m pressure filters, clarifier, polyelectrolyte mixing and dosing system, PAC dosing system and lime & chlorine dosing system.
Raw water is dosed with PACL and lime before entering the contact tank. There pre-caustic pH adjustment is added and heavy sludge is allowed to settle. The water is then dosed with polyelectrolyte and enters the clarifier where the flocculant allows a sludge blanket to form. Clear water from the clarifier flows through a balance tank, pressure filters and finally into the town reservoir.
